Well it is that time of the year again and if your little ones
are anything like mine, they are probably getting pretty excited
about carving pumpkins. Pumpkin carving is a very entertaining
hobby but as with most hobbies you need to take precautions so
that you and your little ones have a fun and safe experience.
Here are a few recommended safety tips so that everyone has a
happy and fun filled Halloween.
Artificial Lights Looking for a safe and secure way to
light your pumpkin? Artificial ...

Bring Back A Memory Night
Here's a great tip for when you are setting a special table for
a family gathering or for close friends. It can be a birthday
party, a family reunion, an elaborate dinner, a holiday or
anniversary - the more people the better, although any number
can "play." For your place cards and seating arrangements use a
"picture-from-the-past" of each dinner guest. Raid your scrap
books and picture albums for old photographs or "commemorative"
photos to place at each table ...

Parents live vicariously through their children and play
dress-up.
One of the joys of being the parent of an infant comes in the
form of choosing cute outfits for the baby to wear. Over the
years, parents have narrowed this down to an art, finding and
choosing the most adorable outfits that they can imagine and
making it seem that every day is Halloween for their infants and
toddlers. While scary and grotesque outfits rarely show up on a
baby even during the actual Halloween holiday, there are ...

With Halloween just around the corner, why not consider doing
some ghoulish crafts with your children? One of my favorite
crafts to do with the kids is Halloween candle making. Your kids
will love it, and it is appropriate for any age group. You will
need the following supplies to get started:
1. A pillar candle.
2. Some "cut and carve" wax.
3. Some wax adhesive.
4. Halloween cookie cutters.
5. A shallow pan.
Heat your "cut and carve" wax, and pour it into the shallow pan.
Be sure that you fill ...

Walk through any mall and you will see discouraged families. The
parents look weary because the children are controlling them.
How did this happen?
With both parents working and returning home tired, sometimes
it's just easier to give in to the demands of the children.
Eventually the pattern is set. An Audio child knows if he
relentlessly demands his way, he will win. A Visual knows if she
asks for your help with a project and frets over getting it
done, you will do it for her rather than ...

There is nothing more comforting than the smell of Christmas
cookies fresh out of the oven. As a little girl, I remember
eagerly watching my mom, as she would carefully remove the hot
cookie sheets from the oven. I couldn't wait to help decorate
with the homemade frosting, the cinnamon candies and the
multi-colored sprinkles that would make each cookie design come
to life.
Those were different times then. Mom didn't work outside the
home and family lives weren't as hectic as they are ...

Planning a children's party can be a little overwhelming... even
scary. After all, throwing a great party is something your child
will remember for a long lime. On the other hand, if the party
bombs they will NEVER forget it.
The easiest way to ensure a successful party is to build it
around one central theme.
A theme will allow you to integrate all the different elements
of the party, it will point you in the right decorating
direction, and it will help you plan your activities. Having a
theme ...

Costume Conundrum! By Ally Zimmerman
It's just around the corner. It's lurking in dark alleys; it's
hiding under your bed, in your closet. October 31 is coming,
folks, and with it, one the most beloved holidays of the year.
Look around you. You see teens deemed 'too mature' for the
age-old tradition of door-to-door candy collecting that they've
joined in since the days of Power-Ranger and Princess costumes.
But that won't stop them. So lose the plastic pumpkin pail and
bust out the pillow ...
